Father accused of kidnapping 9-year-old daughter from Pembroke now faces first-degree murder charges

PEMBROKE, N.C. (WRAL) – The man accused of kidnapping his daughter is now facing a first-degree murder charge.

9-year-old Mekiya Werrell Strickland was found safe after… Amber Alert was issued on Wednesday around 3am. It was canceled later that day.

The 9-year-old girl was believed to be with her father, 50-year-old Claude Leslie Werrell, who was wanted for questioning in connection with a death investigation, police said. NC Missing Persons Center.

Claude Werrell has now been charged with murder.
