Golden Ears Park closed indefinitely after storm

A popular Metro Vancouver park will be closed for the foreseeable future after the access road was severely damaged during an atmospheric river.

The storm, which hit on October 19, brought record-breaking rainfall and caused washouts, flooding and mudslides. Four people were killed.

Golden Ears Park has been closed since October 19 due to flooding.

On Wednesday, an announcement from Alouette Parks, which oversees operations, confirmed the road would remain closed “until further notice” and images of the damage were shared.

“Campsites within the park are currently closed and there is no vehicle access to designated day-use parking areas,” the social media post said.

“There is no timeline at this time for reopening the road.”
