Woman killed in Jasper crash, strangers allegedly tried to save her

JASPER, Ind. (WFIE) – Jasper police say a deadly crash is under investigation.

They say it happened Wednesday just before 4 p.m. at US 231 and Division Road.

According to the police, it was a single-vehicle accident, with only the driver in the car.

When they arrived the car was on fire.

The driver was removed from the burning car and rushed to hospital.

According to police, an investigation revealed that the driver was speeding and that the car crashed into a utility pole.

They say Linda Lou Dalziel of Huntingburg died from her injuries.

In addition to several first responders, police say members of the public endangered themselves in an attempt to save a stranger’s life.
