Is the series really over?

The end of Grotesquerie is difficult to explain. Many viewers were under the impression that it was a limited series and were confused by the cliffhanger finale. The first season ended with barely any explanation as to what was going on with Lois or why the Grotesquerie murders happened, just as she remembered them from her coma. We’ll do our best to connect the pieces and theorize about what might come next.

What happens in the season finale of Grotesquerie?

Episode 9 of Grotesquerie ended with Lois executing Megan’s abusive boyfriend Justin. However, when the final episode begins, she drives in a haze and eventually returns home where Marshall and Redd ask her to live as a trio. Lois refuses, and Redd reveals during a later car ride with Marshall that she knows he has slept with other women and no longer wants to be with him.

When Marshall returns to teach his class, things get even worse for him when Megan and Gale arrive and arrest him over allegations of sexual assault by one of his students. He claims the relationship was consensual, but he booked anyway before being released on his own recognizance.

Knowing that his career, marriage and relationships are over, Marshall attempts suicide. He fails, and Redd and Merritt visit to tell him some hard truths. After Marshall leaves the hospital, he is approached by Ed, who invites him to join a men’s group. The group, which consists of almost every man in Lois’ life (including her therapists), wants to return to “traditional” values, and Marshall is warmly embraced when he agrees with the group’s goal.

Meanwhile, Lois has a nervous breakdown and begins to believe she is dead or still in a coma. She is dedicated and caring towards Dr. Whitcomb admits that she killed Justin, but all evidence of his death is gone and Megan denies that the incident took place. Lois also says she believes Charlie had orgies in her room while she was in a coma and that she overheard him talking about getting a patient pregnant. She also tells him that the first Grotesquerie murder happened exactly as in her dreams and that someone with access to her files must have done it.

Dr. However, Witticomb flips the script on Lois and states that he thinks she has Cotard Syndrome and that she may be the one responsible for the violence and negativity in her life, suggesting that she is the killer. Offended, she ends the interview and returns to her room.

After a few days, Megan visits Lois in the middle of the night and asks for her help. She brings Lois to the scene of Grotesquerie’s second murder. She reveals that Lois really killed Justin and it wasn’t all in her head before leading her to the crime scene.

The murders are just like in Lois’ dreams, but the victims are not the same. This time it is Charlie who is crucified, and Mary Colsby, the girl who reported that Marshall sexually assaulted her, is among the dead.

Lois takes charge of the scene and tells everyone to meet her at her old office in an hour. She explains that she knows exactly who the killer is, and the episode ends.

Unfortunately, we may never know the conclusion of the story. Grotesquerie hasn’t been officially renewed for a second season yet, and there aren’t enough clues to piece together the rest of the story on our own. Speaking to deadlineNiecy Nash stated that she doesn’t know how the series should end and that she is waiting to see what happens along with fans.
