Ohio State is trying to intervene in Brown’s plans to move to Brook Park

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Attorney General Dave Yost wants to be involved in the Browns lawsuit with the city over the Modell Law, according to Federal Court documents filed in the United States District Court, Northern District of Ohio.

19 News just received a lawsuit in which the state says the team’s interpretation of state statute is “wrong.”

The city promised to use the Modell Act to prevent the Browns from moving to Brook Park.

The law requires teams that receive taxpayer money to give at least six months’ notice before leaving. Or give someone else the chance to buy the team.

In the filing, Yost asks the judge to allow the state to be involved in the lawsuit, and not just the city.
