A Michigan man reportedly pulled a gun during a traffic dispute on I-75 in Oakland County

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI. – A Michigan man is accused of pulling a gun during a traffic dispute on I-75 in Oakland County earlier this week, state police said.

At approximately 9 a.m. on Monday, October 28, an officer was conducting construction enforcement in Oakland County when they were notified of a traffic dispute and a crime involving a gun.

The officer obtained the suspect’s license plate number and a description of the vehicle and found the vehicle in heavy traffic in a construction area, according to state police.

A traffic stop was conducted and the officer discovered that the driver, a 38-year-old Ovid man, had a handgun in his possession. He was arrested and the weapon was confiscated.

State police say the case is pending review by the district attorney.

“Unfortunately, we still see drivers failing to pass minor traffic violations,” said Lt. Mike Shaw of the Michigan State Police. “This is one time where the heavy construction traffic was actually a good thing and helped get the suspect off the street before anyone got hurt.”
