Independence man accused of sexually abusing a minor

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (IOWA’S NEWS NOW) — A Buchanan County man is accused of allegedly raping a minor earlier this year.

Jarrid Robert Campbell, 35, was arrested Thursday and is charged with two felonies, including sexual assault.

According to a criminal complaint, the survivor first went to police in August and said they had been attacked by Campbell the week before. They added that Campbell had abused them for years.

Investigators conducted a search of the home and found DNA evidence linking Campbell to the scene of the alleged attack.
