East Ryegate man charged after incident involving US Marshals in Vermont and New Hampshire

EAST RYEGATE, Vt. (WCAX) – A federal grand jury has returned an indictment charging 36-year-old Douglas Reynolds with one count of possession of a firearm while unlawfully using a controlled substance and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm .

Reynolds is currently in state custody in New Hampshire following a reported shooting in the Northeast Kingdom involving an alleged assault on a U.S. Marshal and a chase that began in New Hampshire and ended along Route 5 in Ryegate, Vermont.

Now the new federal charges are not related to this most recent incident, but to an incident from earlier this year in January where he was arrested in Bradford, charged with drug possession, driving under the influence and involvement in a possible police pursuit.

Reynolds will be charged once he is taken into federal custody. If convicted, he faces 15 years in prison.
