A state police trooper has been found guilty of illegally collecting workers’ compensation

ROCKY HILL, Conn. (WFSB) – A state police trooper has been found guilty of illegally collecting workers’ compensation.

Kevin Moore, 45, of Moosup, suffered a back injury in July 2019 while working as a state trooper.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, he then began receiving workers’ compensation benefits, or temporary total disability.

In November 2019, an investigation began to determine whether Moore exceeded the physical limitations set by his healthcare provider.

Surveillance was conducted for four months.

That surveillance revealed that Moore had exceeded those restrictions and was also operating his screen printing company Four82 Designs.

“Moore continued to conduct business while on leave. He failed to disclose his activities or report his income to Gallagher Bassett while receiving compensation benefits for his job as a State Trooper,” the chief prosecutor’s office said.

It was determined that Moore received approximately $47,000.00 that he was not entitled to.

He agreed to pay full restitution before his sentencing on March 4, 2025.
