Candidates continue to make the final push in Wisconsin ahead of Election Day

APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) – With just five days until the election, get ready for even more candidate visits to Wisconsin.

Battleground Wisconsin remains in the political spotlight, with the latest Marquette poll showing Harris leading Trump 50 to 49 percent among likely voters.

After dueling visits to the Badger State on Wednesday, both candidates will return to Wisconsin on Friday evening, where Trump will speak in Milwaukee and Harris will be in Appleton before also heading to Milwaukee.

In recent years, Wisconsin has been known as a battleground for many presidential elections, and this election will be no different.

Harris’ visit to the Appleton area is a first among candidates for this region…she also recently campaigned in Green Bay and Ripon.

Emily Tseffos, chair of the Outagamie County Democratic Party, says it’s an exciting time for Harris to understand the importance of Outagamie County as a potential tipping point in the election.

“I think when it comes to addressing the needs that families and working people experience in our state, there is a contrast and we continue to see that across both platforms,” Tseffos said.

On the other side of the aisle, Trump has made several trips to Northeast Wisconsin in the past year, including two in the Green Bay area.

Pam Van Handel, chair of the Outagamie County Republican Party, attended Wednesday’s meeting at the Resch Center. She hopes Trump returns to office to run the country like a business and help the economy grow.

“It would be great. I think we need him back in the office for the economy, for our border. We really need him in the office. It would mean that the entire state would obviously love it, but the entire country needs it,” Van Handel said.

Action 2 News has learned from Van Handel that Vice President Harris will travel to Little Chute Friday evening to speak at the high school. She says Trump supporters will also be outside the high school.
