Baby dies from injuries after being hit by car, woman and toddlers also injured

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. (WVIR/Gray News) – Authorities say a four-month-old baby in Virginia died after being hit by a car a week ago.

In a press release from the Albemarle County Police Department, officials said police responded to a report of a car hitting a pedestrian in Charlottesville on Oct. 24 around 7 p.m.

According to the release, the crash occurred on Stony Point Road near Riverside Shops Way.

Officers said a driver traveling south hit the 4-month-old baby, along with a 1-year-old, 3-year-old and 38-year-old woman crossing the street.

The children were rushed to UVA Medical Center under life-threatening conditions. The woman was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

According to police, the driver was uninjured at the scene.

The four-month-old boy unfortunately died from his injuries on Wednesday, according to the publication. None of the victims, nor the driver, were identified by officials.

Albemarle County police have asked any witnesses to the crash to contact them.

The crash is still under investigation.
