Does your county have your absentee ballot?

LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – We are less than a week away from Election Day, but does your county have your absentee ballot?

News 3 asked elections supervisor Ronda Walthour about ways to check the status of your absentee ballot.

“You can always check the status of your absentee ballot on the Secretary of State’s MVP (My Voter Page) website, or you can call the office to verify that the ballot was mailed or that we actually have it have received,” Walthour said.

If your local elections office has not received your ballot and you suspect it has been lost in the mail, you can request a cancellation notice. The same applies if you have not received the requested ballot paper.

“If they file the affidavit, they will be allowed to vote in person, just making sure they sign saying that they will not be casting the ballot that was mailed to them or that they have not received it,” Walthour told the News 3.

She added: “It’s normal. yes, it happens. The point is that we make the process so easy for you to cancel your ballot. We don’t first do nothing. We just ask that when you receive it, you please return it to the office in the manner you received it. Then that’s the way we just keep going, take care of them and let them vote.”

Walthour told WSAV that if you are mailing your ballot, plan accordingly.

“It is up to the voter to return it to us on time, no later than November 5, at 7 p.m.”

The last day for early voting in Georgia is November 1.
