Murder investigation launched after fatal stabbing in Harrow

A murder investigation has been launched after a man who was attacked in Harrow died from his injuries.

Detective Inspector Luke Hampton of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “This is a complex situation where several people live at the address. We have made an arrest and our investigation to determine the full circumstances is ongoing.

“At this early stage we believe this has been an isolated incident and there is no apparent risk to the public.

“A man has lost his life and a family has received the worst possible news. If you have any information, please do not hesitate to contact us.”

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service just before 4.40pm on Wednesday, October 30, to reports of an injured man at an address on Sussex Road, Harrow.

Officers were present. A 48-year-old man was found at the scene with knife wounds. He was taken to hospital where, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, he sadly died at 2.35pm.

The victim’s family has been informed. A post-mortem examination will be planned in due course.

A 37-year-old man was arrested later that evening on suspicion of attempted murder. He was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being taken into custody at a police station in north London, where he currently remains.

Chief Inspector Chris Clarke, head of local police for Harrow, Barnet and Brent, said: “We are supporting our Specialist Crime colleagues in their investigations and local people will notice a more visible police presence in the area to provide reassurance.

“If you have any concerns or have any information, please do not hesitate to approach officers or contact your local community policing team.”
