Joe Rogan’s interview with JD Vance: 5 tips

Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance sat down with a popular podcaster Joe Rogan Wednesday for a wide-ranging interview discussing his initial reaction to the assassination attempt former President Donald Trumpviews on transgender rights and his favorite Netflix guilty pleasure, among a wide range of topics.

Rogan hosts the most listened to podcast on Spotify, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” with approximately 14.5 million followers. His audience consists mainly of young men – a key voting group that Trump and Vance are trying to get out to vote in the 2024 election.

Vance’s appearance on the show comes less than a week before the contentious 2024 election and just days after Rogan spoke to Trump about everything.from aliens to election interference.

Rogan frequently expressed agreement with Vance during the more than three-hour friendly conversation, and on several occasions questioned Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris’ fitness for office.

Vance frequently discussed his wife and two daughters on the show and at one point described himself as a “pretty boring guy.” In addition to in-depth policy discussions, Vance also provided insight into his personal life, saying he thinks Netflix’s show “Emily in Paris” is “a masterpiece.”

Here are the key moments from the podcast episode.

Anti-trans rhetoric

Rogan and Vance talked about it at length transgender rights early in the conversation, specifically about gender-affirming care for minors and whether people can play on sports teams that match their gender identity.

“I am the father of a two-year-old daughter,” Vance said. “I don’t want her competing in track and field where I’m terrified she’ll be beaten to death because we allow a six-foot-three man to compete with her in sports,” Vance said.

Vance also suggested that wealthy parents could go so far as to force their children to undergo gender reassignment surgery to gain admission to better colleges and universities.

“If you’re a white, middle-class or upper-middle-class parent, and all you care about is whether your child goes to Harvard or Yale, that path has obviously become a lot more difficult for a lot of upper-middle-class people. children,” he said, adding that “the only way these people can participate in the DEI bureaucracy in this country is by being transgender.”

Vance later argued that he wouldn’t be surprised if Trump “won the vote of the normal gay men, because again, they just wanted to be left alone.”

“Now you have all these crazy things where they say, ‘No, no, we didn’t want to give pharmaceuticals to 9-year-olds who are changing gender,'” Vance said.

Biden ‘garbage’ comments

Vance joked during the interview that he believes President Joe Biden is “trying to help” Donald Trump win the election, referencing comments Biden made earlier this week suggesting Trump supporters were “trash.”

Biden received backlash from Republicans and some Democrats for the comments, which the White House said were about one supporter in particular — a comedian at a Trump rally who called Puerto Rico a “floating island of trash.”

Vance claimed the comment must have been an attempt to help Trump, given the criticism Biden has received since.

“After we win, I will be convinced that Joe Biden was trying to help us all along,” Vance said. He also referenced a moment when Biden wearing a Trump 2024 hat for fun during a visit to Pennsylvania on September 11.

Vance also told Rogan that he had bet $20 that Biden planned to vote for Trump and $100 that his son, Hunter Biden, would also support the Republican candidate over Kamala Harris.

Biden endorsed Harris after dropping out of the 2024 race in July and has since been an outspoken supporter of Harris’ campaign.

Climate change

During a lengthy discussion about the environment, Vance claimed he had “no strong opinion about what nature should do.” carbon footprint eventually yes’, and seems to doubt whether there is man-made climate change.

“It’s interesting that the environmental movement in America only talks about the carbon footprint, and never about… . . Why do we have the highest obesity rates in the world right now,” Vance said.

Rogan added that it was “disturbing” that “profits are also being made from the green movement,” and namechecked. Bill Gates which has invested billions of dollars in climate technology solutions.

The podcaster also brought up an unproven statement from his interview with Trump: that wind turbines, a form of clean energy, negatively affect and even kill whales. There is no proof to support those statements. Most whale deaths that people are aware of are caused by boats and entanglement in fishing gear.

Where was Vance during Murder of Trump?

Vance told Rogan he was playing mini golf with his family in Ohio when he heard that Trump had been shot in the ear during his speech Butler, Pa. rally in June.

“I actually thought they killed him because when you first see the video, he grabs his ear and then he goes down,” Vance recalled after seeing the video of Trump’s July 13 rally. “I’m like, ‘Oh my God, they just killed him.'”

Just days earlier, Vance said Trump told him he was the front-runner for vice presidential nominee. Trump had announced the news at the meeting, but had decided not to.

Vance, a Marine veteran, said his immediate reaction to news of the assassination attempt was to load his guns.

“At first I was so angry, but then I go into fight or flight mode,” he said. “I pick up my kids, throw them in the car, go home and load all my guns. And basically stand like a sentinel at our front door, and that was my response to that.”

Rogan talks Harris

Rogan expressed skepticism about Harris’ candidacy for president at several points in the podcast.

“It’s just strange that everyone accepts that this person, who is the least popular vice president ever, is now the solution to the problem,” he told Vance, arguing that “the media machine did this in just a few days and just sold her.” as a solution.”

“As long as they keep her from having these conversations where she’s allowed to talk, they can get this done, and the fact that it’s happening without a primary should be really concerning to people,” he said of Harris’ campaign.

Harris was criticized for not doing many interviews in the first few months after taking the Democratic Party nomination from Biden. Since then, she has embarked on a media blitz with appearances on various podcasts, daytime talk shows and news programs.

At one point, Harris was in talks to appear on Rogan’s show. The podcaster said earlier this week that Harris had agreed to appear on his podcast, but rejected the terms of the interview because he would have to travel and wanted to speak with her for more than an hour.

“My sincere desire is to just have a nice conversation and get to know her as a person,” Rogan said of the opportunity to interview Harris. “I really hope we can make it happen.”
