Rukia Musa lost her husband, Adam Paulo, in the morning hours of Thursday, October 31, due to a natural phenomenon.

The 33-year-old was struck by lightning, killing him on the spot, while his two children were seriously injured.

An emotional Rukia tearfully recounted the series of events as she struggled to accept her husband’s fate.

“Lightning struck through the wall of our bedroom. My husband was shocked and thought his day of judgment had arrived. He then left the room and went into the children’s room. I looked into my children’s bedroom and saw that it was on fire. I felt weak in my legs. I tried to call for help, but my voice was weak.

I crawled and walked to my children’s bedroom. I opened it forcibly. “I saw that the mattress my children were on was on fire,” she said painfully, adding that one of her children was badly burned.

When she shook her husband, he did not wake up and she called her neighbors, who told her that he was already dead.

Lightning strikes five family members in Nakuru

In another story, five family members were hospitalized at Keringet Nursing Home and Olenguruone sub-provincial hospitals after being struck by lightning.

Their mother, Emily Cheruiyot, said the five were in the same room and using their phones when the tragedy struck.

Heavy rain caused lightning in Kuresoi South Nakuru Province on Monday May 6.
