One dead, two injured after triple shooting in Philadelphia’s Frankford neighborhood

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia police are investigating a deadly triple shooting in the city’s Frankford neighborhood.

It happened Thursday around 9:45 p.m. at Arrott and Leiper streets.

Police have confirmed that a man in his 30s died from his injuries.

A 37-year-old man was also shot in the stomach and is in critical condition in hospital. A 40-year-old woman was also shot once in the leg. Her condition is stable in hospital.

Police say all three were standing together at an apartment complex when someone fired at least 11 shots.

“It therefore appears that the deceased victim was more than likely an intended target as he was struck multiple times,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small of the Philadelphia Police Department. “The other two victims were shot only once each, so it is unclear if they were struck by stray gunfire or if they were unintended targets.”

Police don’t know if the shooter(s) were in a car or running by.

There is no description or motive at this time, but police say there are surveillance cameras in the area.

This is all because the number of homicides in the city has fallen this year compared to last year, recent data shows.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.
