No comment from the Kremlin on Blinken’s words: the DPRK army is ready to join the battle – Russian Politics & Diplomacy

MOSCOW, November 1. /TASS/. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov left without commenting US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s statement on the willingness of North Korean troops, reportedly deployed in the Kursk region, to participate in the near future the fighting in Ukraine.

“I have nothing to add to what we have said previously on this issue,” Peskov said.

Blinken previously argued that 8,000 of the 10,000 North Korean troops reportedly on Russian territory had been transferred to the Kursk region, but that they had not yet been involved in combat operations against the Ukrainian military. He noted that the US expected this to happen within days. US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin claimed that the troops were “outfitted in Russian uniforms and supplied with Russian equipment”, indicating that Russia intended to use these foreign forces in front-line operations against Ukraine.

Peskov told a news briefing on Thursday that Moscow was committed to developing relations with Pyongyang in all areas and that this should not frighten or worry anyone. For her part, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the strategic cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang was not unusual or extraordinary, unlike Western attempts to demonize it. She stated that those seeking peaceful interaction with Moscow had nothing to worry about.
