New Red Alert issued and the latest travel advice

Parts of it will be on Tuesday Spain received a year’s worth of rain in just one day, causing flash flooding in the country’s popular southeastern region, catastrophic damage in Valencia‘s region and as many as 158 deaths to date.

Where was the last red alert in Spain?

The province of Huelva, in the southwestern region of Andalusia, is the latest destination to be issued a red warning for flooding as the region received 117mm of rain in just three hours overnight. This has since been downgraded to an amber alert until midday today, according to Sur in English.

Several provinces in Spain are currently under weather warnings: four of them are in orange (Huelva, Tarragona, Mallorca and Menorca), yellow warnings for rain in Alicante and Valencia, and yellow warnings for storms in Ibiza, Formentera and Badajoz.

What is the latest travel advice from foreign offices?

The FCDO The travel advice page for Spain reads: ‘Severe weather and flooding are affecting many areas in southern and eastern Spain, particularly the Valencia region and Castilla La Mancha. Travel may be affected. View the latest weather warnings from The Spanish meteorological office before traveling and follow the instructions of local authorities.’

Which parts of Spain have been affected by the floods so far?
