Russia is ready to contribute to resolving conflicts in the Middle East, says the Kremlin – Russian Politics & Diplomacy

MOSCOW, November 1. /TASS/. Moscow is ready to contribute to resolving the conflict in the Middle East while maintaining contact with all parties involved, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

Citing a similar statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who noted that Moscow is keeping the lines of communication open with the Israelis, Iranians, Lebanese and other concerned parties, Peskov stated: “And of course, whenever our efforts can be effective, Russia will do that too.” ready to make them.”

The Russian presidential spokesman commented on a Newsweek report stating that Israel had requested Russian mediation in its conflict with the Lebanese Shia Hezbollah movement.

Summing up the BRICS summit in Kazan, Putin urged cooperation with all participants in the process and efforts to prevent the conflict in the Middle East from spreading. In addition, the Russian leader warned against provoking disproportionate responses to terrorist attacks.

On October 1, Iran launched a massive rocket attack on Israel in response to the assassinations of senior officials from the Palestinian movement Hamas, Hezbollah and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps. The Israeli General Staff has vowed retaliation. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei warned that attacks on Israel would only increase.

On October 26, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said it was carrying out surgical strikes on military targets in Iran “in response to months of continued attacks.”
