Caitlin Clark gets a new incentive and a huge financial offer to join the rival league | Other | Sport

Indiana Fever’s Aliyah Boston is the latest player to join the new 3×3 Unrivaled League signing, hot on the heels of teammate Lexie Hull.

Boston joins the young league – co-founded by WNBA stars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart – in which six teams will compete on a compact large field in Miami. She took to social media to confirm her involvement, writing: “MIAMIIII LETS GET IT. so excited!!!” and “Had to double BOW BOW BOW!!”

Boston is the second Fever player in as many days to join Unrivaled, following Wednesday’s announcement that Hull would join. This could entice teammate and WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark to join the league, despite her previous statement to ESPN that she would not participate in basketball this offseason to focus on having time for herself.

“It’ll be fun, I think,” Clark said. “Getting out of the spotlight and just living my life and doing the things I want to do.”

Front Office Sports has reported that Unrivaled has made a ‘Messi-like offer’ to Clark, implying the deal is similar to the staggering proposal Inter Miami presented to Lionel Messi, tempting the football icon to join the MLS to close.

The Argentine superstar reportedly received a mega compensation package, including a share of Apple TV’s revenue from the MLS Season Pass and a cut of Adidas’ profits following his expected move to the MLS.

In addition to this tempting proposal, several of Clark’s friends from the WNBA, including Hull and Kate Martin of the Las Vegas Aces, have been confirmed as players in the league, prompting speculation that the All-Star could be reconsidering her position. With Unrivaled recently expanding its roster to 36, there are still six spots left up for grabs ahead of the league’s launch in January.

Discussions have taken place between Clark and Unrivaled regarding a potential settlement that offers significant benefits for the basketball prodigy. Unrivaled president Alex Bazzell spoke to Sportico about the circulating speculation about Clark, saying: “We will always have a place for Caitlin Clark. We don’t apply a full court press like people think… She knows we have a place for her when she is ready.”

Either way, Clark is set to have a busy offseason. The 22-year-old is teaming up with LPGA golfer and fellow Gainbridge Ambassador Annika Sorenstam for a charity pro-am tournament in December, among other engagements and events with a variety of sponsors.
