Bruce Springsteen opens Halloween show with ‘Ghostbusters’

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band offered a fun treat on Halloween night (October 31), opening their show at Montreal’s Bell Center with a cover of Ray Parker Jr.’s ‘Ghostbusters’.

Fan-filmed footage shows the band walking on stage for the eerie instrumental intro to ‘Ghostbusters’, while Springsteen greeted the crowd with, “Hello, Montreal! Bonsoir!”

A little later, drummer Max Weinberg launches the band into a cover of the theme song of the 1984 film of the same name. Springsteen sings the well-known lines, “If There’s Something Strange In Your Neighborhood / Who Are You Going To Call?” as his backup singers and the audience respond with “Ghostbusters!”

The song fits perfectly with Springsteen’s current lineup, as the core members of the E Street Band are augmented by an extended horn section and a handful of backup singers.

The Montreal show kicked off Springsteen’s fall tour of Canada, which runs through a Nov. 22 concert in Vancouver (get tickets here). In total, Springsteen performed a set of 29 songs in Montreal, including favorites like “Hungry Heart,” Thunder Road” and “Born to Run.”

In recent days, Springsteen has performed in, among others few campaign events for Kamala Harris. And last week his documentary Diary gone started streaming Hulu And Disney+.
