Dear Abby: I caught my husband on the phone with another woman

DEAR ABBY: I caught my husband on the phone with another woman. I heard him say, “Go to sleep, honey,” and “Thank you for being my companion.” When I confronted him about it, he claimed that nothing was wrong and that he had used the wrong words.

He admitted who he was talking to, and I called her. She said she was just a friend and she didn’t have feelings for him that way. Afterwards I still felt that something was wrong. That was two years ago, and I don’t think of him the same anymore. He knows this and keeps telling me he loves me and nothing happened. Am I right to feel this way? — I didn’t buy it in WISCONSIN

BEST DID NOT BUY IT: People have been known to talk lovingly to each other without an affair taking place. Both your husband and wife denied it. However, now that the trust between you and your husband has been broken after what you heard, it was time to deal with it two years ago.

It’s still not too late for the two of you to have some sessions with a licensed marriage and family therapist, and that’s what I urge you to do.
