Illegal Immigrant Raped 5-Year-Old, Police Say

An illegal immigrant was arrested and charged last week for allegedly raping a 5-year-old girl in Long Island, New York. The suspect was previously arrested by U.S. Border Patrol and released into the United States.

According to a Thursday press release Nassau County Police arrested 26-year-old Wilson Castillo Diaz last Tuesday by Special Victims Squad detectives for “raping a 5-year-old female child.” Nassau County Police Department officials noted that the alleged rape incident occurred on October 16.

After the alleged rape incident, the 5-year-old girl was taken to a local hospital where medical professionals performed an evaluation, according to Thursday’s news release. The Nassau County Police Department’s news release did not provide details about the illegal immigrant’s relationship with the 5-year-old girl or where the alleged rape incident occurred.

The Nassau County Police Department press release stated: “Defendant Diaz is charged with rape in the first degree, attempted rape in the first degree and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.”

Diaz illegally entered the United States near Texas’ Rio Grande Valley in April 2014, according to Nassau County Police Department officials. The illegal immigrant was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents; However, Diaz was released into the United States and did not show up for his immigration court hearing.

In Thursday’s news release, law enforcement officials indicated that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement had been notified of the situation following Diaz’s arrest last week.

Nassau County Police Department officials added: “Detectives request that if anyone believes they have been victimized by this individual, they should contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244 TIPS or the Special Victims Squad at 516-573-4022. ”
