Vancouver mall shooting on Halloween: 1 dead, 2 injured in Washington state, police say

VANCOUVER, Wash. — One person was killed in a shooting at a shopping center in Vancouver, Washington on Thursday evening.

Police said two people were injured in the food court shooting and taken to a local hospital. KPTV reports this.

A witness said she was trick-or-treating at the mall with family when she heard gunfire.

“We heard multiple shots fired; it was five or six shots that we heard, and I froze for a moment because I thought that was impossible,” Brianne Stoner said. “Then we saw a group of people running towards us. Many terrified mothers pulling their children.”

The police say that there is no longer an active threat, but are still looking for the suspect.

They are asking people to avoid the area while they investigate.
