Man accused of 2022 Peoria murder pleads guilty

PEORIA (25News Now) – A man accused in the 2022 Peoria shooting that left one man dead has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.

The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office said 19-year-old Lamarion K. Wright pleaded guilty Friday.

The 2022 shoots left 46-year-old Christopher L. Tillman dead. It happened on September 20, 2022, near what was then Taft Homes in Peoria.

It was Peoria’s 18th homicide that year.

On September 20 around 9 p.m., Peoria police were called to the 600 block of Northeast Adams Street, where they found Tillman had been shot four times: three in the back and once in his right arm.

He later died in hospital.

Surveillance video later obtained by police showed that Wright, identified by an officer and witness, can be seen with a gun in his hand as he ran after Tillman and shot him.

Wright was 16 years old at the time of the murder and was automatically charged as an adult because of his age and the charges.

His sentence was reduced to 50 years in exchange for his guilty plea.

He will be sentenced on December 30.
