We asked ChatGPT for the best Halloween costumes for Cardiff students, here’s what it said

It seems that ChatGPT is very familiar with Cathays lore

With Halloweekend just around the corner, we decided to ask ChatGPT about the best Cardiff-inspired Halloween costumes to style for your events.

It’s fair to say it lived up to the brief; Is there anything creepier than a Welsh rugby player or a Cathays rat? Whether you’re planning on going out on the town or just heading to the pub, these outfits are sure to turn heads.

1. Seagull

ChatGPT started off strong with number one, recommending Cardiff students dress up as a seagull for Halloween.

Who needs a scare this weekend when the seagulls of Cathays are harassing us week in and week out? This outfit is sure to raise a few laughs from your friends and (hopefully) scare a few Cathays seagulls too.

2. Cast of Gavin and Stacey

There’s nothing more fun than dressing up in a group costume on Halloween, and what’s better than referencing Gavin and Stacey on Halloween?

This outfit is perfect if you’re planning to go out on the town or to the pub this Halloween. Don’t be surprised if people want to have their picture taken with Nessa or Smithy in Chippy Lane.

3. Roath Lake Swan

If you fancy a more elegant Halloween costume, why not follow ChatGPT’s swan recommendation?

Be careful if you plan to go to the SU with this outfit, the stain from a blue VK is fatal (you have been warned).

4. Cathays rat

It seems that ChatGPT knows Cardiff very well and suggested that Cardiff students should dress as rats for Halloween.

Just as scary as the seagulls, this outfit hits very close to home. Hopefully it will also deter some rats?

5. Welsh rugby player

Show some Welsh pride by donning a Welsh rugby shirt and some face paint for a perfect last-minute Halloween costume, and to make things easier, Cardiff city center is filled with rugby shops for a last-minute purchase.

6. Sheep

Embrace Welsh stereotypes by dressing up as none other than a sheep.

All you need is some black and white clothes and some face paint for a great Welsh costume. Bonus points if you let your friends dress up as a flock of sheep.

7. Welsh dragon

As the national symbol of Wales, a dragon costume is a great Halloween costume to embrace Welsh culture. Put on some green and red clothes, or go to the Joke shop – they will definitely have dragon-themed accessories.

8. Cardiff Castle ghost

There’s nothing like a classic Halloween costume and what’s better than a ghost. Just grab some old sheets and scissors to make a last-minute DIY costume.

Spooky. Nice ChatGPT.

9. The Welsh daffodil

Dress up as a cheerful daffodil representing the national flower of Wales.

This one’s simple: wear all green and find a yellow hat (extra points if you can find a daffodil headpiece), and you’re done.

10. VKs

It wouldn’t be a Cardiff Halloween costume list if it didn’t include VK.

Cardiff students are known for our love of VKs, so this costume is perfect for a night out at the SU. Even better if you come to the press with VKs that match your outfit.
