Restaurants and bars are gearing up for an NFL rivalry game

ALPHA, Mich. (WLUC) – Restaurants and bars are preparing for the Packers-Lions game.

Alpha Michigan Brewing Company has an NFL package, which allows every NFL game to be shown on Sundays.

Alpha Michigan Brewing Company marketing manager Jamie Krueger says Sundays can be very busy.

“So everyone can bring food that he or she likes. We also have frozen pizzas that we sell, and obviously we can cook as well,” Krueger said. “But a lot of people bring meat and cheese platters and make a party out of it, which is great.”

The brewery company is offering specials for this weekend’s Packers-Lions game.

Customers with merchandise from either team can get $1 off their first drink.

Krueger says even her colleagues are getting involved in the rivalry.

“Absolutely, we’re pretty packed in here and it’s kind of friendly banter because half of our owners are Packers fans and the other half are Lions fans, so it’s always a fun time,” Krueger said.

In Florence the gas station is also preparing for Sunday. The bar is usually closed on Sundays, but the Packers season is an exception.

Gas station owner Tracy Kattar says she expects the atmosphere to be intense.

“The atmosphere will be crazy,” Kattar said. “I can tell you we’ll get our little karaoke speaker working. I’ll have one of our clients come in, he’s great on the mic, so he’ll announce the game as it goes, of course he’s an avid Packers fan.

Kattar says catering service Hawg Wild will offer smoked meats and macaroni at the bar during the game.

Alpha Brewing opens Sunday at noon central time.

The gas station opens at 2:30 PM central time.
