An Avondale teacher has been arrested and booked on child sex trafficking charges, court records show.

Domenik Brewer, 28, was employed as a permanent substitute teacher at West Point High School and also served as a coach for the Phoenix Suns Youth Basketball program, according to court documents.

Court documents show Brewer attempted to solicit sexual favors in exchange for money from an undercover detective posing as a 15-year-old.

As part of the West Valley Sex Trafficking Task Force, Avondale Police conducted an online, undercover investigation designed to address child prostitution and predators.

The suspect responded to an advertisement, the police say

According to court documents, a lure ad was placed on Oct. 25 on a website that police knew was a platform for child sex trafficking.

An Avondale Police Department detective created the fake profile and included two non-graphic photos of him wearing “oversized clothing with a youthful style,” according to court documents. The profile claimed that of a teenage girl “available for paid sexual services.”

Brewer, the defendant, sent messages to the undercover detective detailing his desire for sexual intercourse, records show.

According to court documents, when Brewer was informed of the girl’s age, he said it was fine “as long as she didn’t get him in trouble.”

A meet-and-greet was arranged between Brewer and the fake teen on the same day they began communicating, records show. Brewer was “taken into custody without incident” and booked on a charge of child sex trafficking, a class two felony.

During interviews by Avondale police and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Brewer admitted to making a deal with the minor to pay $150 for “sexual intercourse and oral intercourse,” according to court documents.

Court records show Brewer was stopped with $160 in $20 bills on his person.

Court records also said Brewer called his wife during an interview to tell her he “messed up” and “tried to have sex with a 15-year-old.”
