George Pickens rips NFL for having vendetta against him

On Thursday night, New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson had one insane one-handed grab in the end zone, but he only got his left foot and shin in bounds. However, it was ruled a touchdown.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens had a similar play in Monday night’s win over the New York Giants, but it was ruled an incomplete pass. The difference was that Pickens put his right foot on the ground twice, but his left foot never touched the ground.

To say the least, Pickens was not happy when he saw Wilson’s catch as a touchdown. He feels like he was robbed by the NFL.

‘But that’s a catch. Lmfaooo NFL HAS VENDET BAG FOR CERTAIN PLAYERS. (Never forget I said this) ps,” Pickens wrote in an Instagram Story post after Wilson’s touchdown.

The NFL rule book says both feet must touch the ground on a catch, so the officials got the call right away on the Pickens play. The officials also made the right decision with Wilson, as the rulebook states that a shin bone counts as two feet.

Still, this could be something the competition committee looks at in the offseason. Many believe the rule is illogical. How does a shin count as two feet, but isn’t it equal to a catch if the same foot hits the ground twice?

“Garrett Wilson’s touchdown is unbelievable. George Pickens’ catch from Monday night, which isn’t a touchdown, makes no sense to me. Wilson had his foot and shin down, so it counts as a touchdown. However, George Pickens got his foot on the ground twice, but that doesn’t count. NFL insider Jordan Schultz said.

Steelers nose tackle Breiden Fehoko was also stunned that Pickens’ catch wasn’t a touchdown, but Garrett’s was.

“Not taking anything from the G5, but letting that be a touchdown and not counting the GP double-tapping twice with the same foot, I think it’s crazy,” Fehoko wrote on X.

It is very rare for a situation like Pickens and Wilson’s plays to arise. JJ Watt wrote on XI’ve never seen the ‘one foot twice’ situation in my entire career. Seen twice now in one week. Crazy!”

Warren Sharp of Sharp Football said it best: Pickens had the “most complete looking incomplete pass ever.”
