While her death was declared as a suicideMica’s sister reportedly claimed that Mica was implying that she was the victim of unlawful coercive control. On November 1, 2024, JP’s home was searched by the FBI, his lawyer confirmed.

Who was Mica Miller?

Mica was a 30-year-old resident of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, according to multiple reports. Before her death, she was an active member of Solid Rock Church alongside JP, whom she married in 2018. However, Mica allegedly told police in January 2023 that they had separated, according to CBS Austin. Mica officially filed for divorce from JP in October 2023, and their divorce case was still ongoing at the time of her death.

Three months before Mica’s death, on Feb. 8, 2024, she was involuntarily hospitalized for 48 hours, according to multiple reports from Myrtle Beach police. She told police on February 21, 2024, that she believed JP “fraudulently initiated her ‘involuntary’ hospitalization and stole her car while she was receiving treatment.” ABC 13 News reported. She allegedly told the officer that she had known her husband since she was 10 years old and that he “groomed” her while she worked for him at the church until they married.

When police contacted JP to deal with the claims, he claimed Mica was suffering from ‘episodes’ and had spent large sums of money when she stopped taking her prescription, so he had to take her wallet. No charges have been filed.

Additionally, in March 2024, Mica told police she was “scared for her life” after finding a GPS tracker on her car and a razor blade on her tire.

What happened to Mica Miller?

On April 27, 2024, Mica was spotted on her Ring camera leaving her home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, at 11:38 a.m. ET, according to multiple reports. She then went to Dick’s Pawn Shop, where she purchased a gun, as seen on surveillance footage. Mica called 911 at 2:54 p.m. and asked a dispatcher if they could track her location. She told the dispatcher, “I’m about to commit suicide, and I just want my family to know where to find me.”

After Mica hung up the phone, the dispatcher was unable to find her location and contacted local authorities, who found Mica’s black Honda Accord at Lumber River State Park in Orrum, North Carolina. Investigators found a Sig Sauer pistol case on the passenger seat of the vehicle, as well as a box of ammunition in the center console.

During the search for Mica, a person approached investigators and said they found a bag at the water’s edge and heard crying, as well as a gunshot. Inside the bag was Mica’s ID

Mica’s body was found in the water and it was later determined that she had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Her death was ruled a suicide, according to A press release from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office in May 2024. It was also revealed that neither JP nor the woman he was dating at the time of Mica’s death were in South Carolina at the time of her suicide.

In their May press release, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office shut down conspiracy theories surrounding Mica’s death and possible foul play.

“This incident has drawn significant attention from across the Carolinas and beyond. I would like to assure everyone that a very methodical investigation has been carried out by our Criminal Investigations Team and Crime Scene Investigative Team,” Sheriff Burnis Wilkins said. “Unfortunately, rumors and conspiracy theories spread quickly and assumptions were made. But ultimately we have to make decisions based on the facts and the evidence gathered.”

The statement continued: “While I know this is not what many people wanted to hear, the evidence is quite clear and compelling, and we are as saddened as anyone that this occurred. There are many factors that we assessed that occurred over an extended period of time and are likely related to the reason for this investigation, but in the end, unfortunately, a tragic decision was made by Mica that took her life.
