Hornets’ Grant Williams ejected after running over ex-Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum

Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum were teammates for four years — from 2020 to ’23 — and won an Eastern Conference title together.

You wouldn’t know it from the way they interacted during the Hornets’ game against the Celtics on Friday night.

With just over two minutes left in the game and Boston leading 114–105, Tatum grabbed a defensive rebound and attempted to bring the ball up the court. As he approached center court, Williams checked Tatum and dropped him to the ground.

Tatum seemed disturbed by the play, although he took no action against Williams.

However, the officials ruled Williams a Flagrant 2 foul and threw him from the game.

Williams finished his night with six points and seven rebounds in 30 minutes, while Tatum scored 32 points and 11 rebounds in 36 minutes.

The Celtics completed the win 124-109 and moved to 5-1 on the season.
