A 24-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was killed after he was hit by a car driven by a Delhi police officer in East Delhi’s Kalyanpuri area.

According to police, the incident took place on Thursday evening when the vehicles met with a head-on collision near Trilokpuri road. A senior police officer said it is suspected that the accident took place when the autorickshaw came from the wrong side of the road, but this is further confirmed.

The constable said that soon after receiving a call, a police team reached the spot and found the damaged vehicles, while the auto-rickshaw driver, Harsh, had already been taken to a hospital while the driver of the Hyundai i10 car, Constable Varun Yadav, was present. the place. “The victim was found seriously injured and under observation in hospital by police and was unfit to provide a statement,” he said.

He said Yadav has been deployed to Mayur Vihar police station and would attend a case that had arisen within the jurisdiction of his police station. The officer was taken into police custody and sent for medical examination. “He was not found under the influence of alcohol,” said another officer.
