Three Late Late Show talking points, including Christy Moore on a decades-long career

Singer Christy Moore was on the show to discuss his new album, A Terrible Beauty, and perform a few songs.

Patrick Kielty described. it was a ‘dream’ to have Moore on the show and the singer also talked about how much he loves living in Ireland, despite the difficulties the country faces.

“There’s a lot of hardship in the country now and there’s also a lot of wealth,” Moore said.

“Some people do it very, very well, and others don’t do so well. And there are many people in Ireland now who need more than they are getting.

“There’s a lot of hate emerging in this country, and it’s a little scary. There are a lot of things happening that are very worrying, but I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in the world. I just love it here. I don’t want to go anywhere else for the rest of my life. I don’t want to play anywhere else. I just like it here.”

After a 56-year music career, Moore says he feels “very privileged to still be able to sing and still have the voice, and to have people who want to hear the songs,” adding that he sometimes has to pinch himself.

Line of Duty return?

Actor Vicky McClure was in the studio and talked about how much she would love to film in Belfast again when Line of Duty returns.

McClure played DI Kate Flemming alongside her co-stars Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar. The trio recently reunited for a rickshaw ride through central London, which was filmed and posted on social media with the caption “AC12 oot and aboot”.

“We’ve said it a million times and coming back to Belfast and filming it again would be amazing, and a dream because we love working together,” she said.

“We love how much the audience loves the show, and in the last series we filmed during Covid and that was difficult. We haven’t dated and to be honest, when we film Line of Duty we have the craziness.

“It would be wonderful to come back and really enjoy it.”

Surprise from the toy show

A young Late Late Toy Show fan was surprised on Friday evening by a visit from the show to inform him that he would be appearing on next month’s season episode.

Steven Martin, 10, from Monaghan was shocked when the camera crew arrived at his home.

“I don’t even know what to say. I’m shocked. I’m at a loss for words,” he said.

When Kielty revealed he will be part of the first Toy Show county parade, representing Monaghan, the ten-year-old said he was “lost for words”.

When asked what he liked most about his province, he said: “The football, they are so good at it. The hurling they’re not the best at, but definitely watch.”
