Municipal council candidate Aaron Edwards sits down with KNOP NEWS 2 days before election day

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – North Platte native Aaron Edwards is running for North Platte City Council in Ward 4. With more than 10 years of experience at Edwards’ Land Surveying and nearly 11 years at Dawson Public Power, he brings valuable expertise to the function.

Edwards said he is a family man and is committed to investing in the city’s future. He strives to ensure North Platte continues to grow, emphasizing the responsible use of tools like Tax Increment Financing, which can fund public improvements through future tax revenues to plan for the future.

“I want North Platte to continue to grow. We must use all the tools in our suite, including TIF, and we must use TIF responsibly,” Edwards said. “We have to look very proactively at the future; we need to make sure we use a bigger vision. We can’t just keep today in mind. We still have 20 to 30 years to make sure we are moving towards the goal.”

Edwards envisions a community where families want to stay and thrive, and he wants to ensure his children can live and work in the area after college. Edwards believes his experience makes him the best candidate for Ward 4.

Edwards’ service on the Lincoln County Planning and Zoning Board has familiarized him with local regulations, and his background in surveying has allowed him to understand development needs.

“My ten years of surveying experience has taught me how to map development and how the city should develop,” Edwards said.
