Swiggy CEO appreciates this ‘old-school’, ‘unusual way’ of looking for work: ‘Got my attention’

Swiggy’s Assistant Vice President of Design, Saptarshi Prakash, shared an unusual and unconventional job application he recently received. In this digital age, applicant sent a physical letter for a designer role at Swiggy.

Saptarshi Prakash expressed his admiration and posted images of the letter on X. “I received a physical letter from a designer who wants to participate @Swiggy with a concept. In a digital age, this old-school approach stood out,” the Swiggy director wrote on X.

While Swiggy currently has no new vacancies for the mentioned position. Saptarshi Prakash has requested others to share new vacancies function openings.

‘To the sender: We may not have a role right now, but please send me an email. I’d love to see your idea! If anyone knows of design openings, please share!” he added.

In a separate post on LinkedIn, Prakash said: “I received a call fromSwiggyAt the reception it said that I had received a letter. This was a bit unusual as I don’t remember giving my office address for correspondence. Since it was a working day, I went to collect the letter yesterday,” Prakash wrote.

The letter also stated that the applicant has a concept to improve the user experience.

“To my surprise, it came from a design aspirant who contacted me. Yes, a physical letter, delivered to my office and addressed to me personally. It was from a designer who wanted to work at Swiggy. Not only that, the person claimed to have developed a concept that could benefit our “ongoing efforts to improve the user experience.” he said.

This is the first time that anyone has approached Prakash for a job through a letter through India Post.

“This is not the first time someone has approached me, but it is the first time through a physical letter sent via India Post! In a world where emails and DMs are the best methods, this person decided to go old school to stand out. And you know what? It worked,” Prakash said.

Initially, he found the letter quite conventional and even raised some privacy concerns. However, it left a lasting impact on him.

“At first I thought it was a bit unconventional, maybe even a small invasion of privacy. But then I realized it really caught my attention, enough to share it here on LinkedIn. Sometimes deviating from the usual can really have an impact,” he says.

Finally, he asked people to respond under his message about any positions in the relevant division.

“To the person who sent the letter: Although we may not have a relevant role in this Swiggy for you at this time, I have certainly taken note of your initiative. For now, check out the comments in this post. I would also like to review the concept you developed. Would you like to send me an email? I’m sure you’ll find my email address; you found my physical address!”

“To everyone else: If you know of any design openings or opportunities, please leave them in the comments. Let’s help connect this proactive person with the right people!” Prakash added.
