In Washington, DC, a major construction company is being sued for allegedly failing to clean up its actions regarding dirty water and harming both residents and the land.

As reported by The Washington PostDC Attorney General Brian Schwalb has filed a lawsuit against Fort Myer Construction. The lawsuit alleges that Fort Myer has been allowing contaminated water from its facilities to flow into the city’s stormwater system for years. This contaminated water is believed to have affected local waterways, including Springhouse Run, a stream that flows into the popular waterways National Arboretum.

“For years, Fort Myer Construction has threatened the health and safety of District residents by polluting our waterways in flagrant violation of environmental laws,” Schwalb said.
