Man stabbed after alleged altercation near Benedum Center in downtown Pittsburgh

A man was stabbed Thursday evening near the Benedum Center in downtown Pittsburgh.

Crews were called to the 700 block of Liberty Avenue at 11:30 p.m

Police tell us a man was stabbed in the stomach and ran into the Benedum for help.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition and operated on. On Friday, investigators said he had been upgraded to stable condition.

Reports indicate that the victim had been in some sort of argument prior to the stabbing.

We contacted the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, which manages the Benedum. A spokesperson said: “The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is working with the City of Pittsburgh Police Department to support their investigation into this incident. The Trust has provided video footage from its private security camera system and is asking authorities for further details.”
