Well-known Kadoma pharmacist and entrepreneur Elison Tambudza was shot dead by unknown assailants on Friday evening when he parked his vehicle in the carport upon returning home.

The incident took place at around 8:30 PM at the home of the now deceased, located at 2216 Jacaranda Drive, Westview, Kadoma in Mashonaland West Province.

Police sources told NewZimbabwe.com that the motive of the 67-year-old pharmacist’s cold-blooded murder remains shrouded in mystery as all his valuables, including a vehicle with keys, mobile phones and cash, were found untouched at the scene.

The circumstances are that at around 8.30 pm, an armed security guard employed by Amark Security (Pvt) Limited, who was providing services on the premises, spotted two unidentified men climbing the prefabricated perimeter wall.

It is said that before he could respond to the intruders, the attackers pounced on the security guard and tied his hands with shoelaces, and began interrogating him, demanding to know what time Tambudza usually comes home from work.

“While the suspected robbers were questioning the security guard, Tambudza arrived at the gate aboard his white Toyota Land Cruiser registration number ACM0498 and one of the accused proceeded to open the gate.

“Without noticing anything suspicious, Tambudza drove straight to the carport, but as he did so, the security guard managed to free himself, evaded the other suspect watching over him and rushed to the neighbors for help.

“The guard, who later became an informant, said he heard two gunshots when he sought reinforcement from the neighbors,” the source said.

When they arrived at the scene, the informant and neighbors were reportedly shocked to find Tambudza’s lifeless body with gunshot wounds to the head.

Police details from Kadoma Central and Homicide Unit detectives were informed, visited the scene and later transferred the body of the now deceased to Kadoma General Hospital for post-mortem.

The security guard has since been arrested and is assisting the police investigation into the gruesome murder that shocked the gold mining town.
