A shooting in Berrien County leaves one dead and one injured

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. — A shooting early Saturday morning at the intersection of Main and Elm Streets in Eau Claire left one man dead and another injured, according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 12:43 a.m. on November 2, emergency services, with assistance from the Berrien Springs Police Department, Michigan State Police, Benton Harbor City K9 and Medic 1, responded to the scene. Authorities found two male victims.

The first, who suffered life-threatening injuries, was unresponsive when emergency services arrived. A second male victim had non-life-threatening injuries. Both were transported to Spectrum Lakeland Health Hospital, where the first victim was pronounced dead.

The investigation quickly identified a suspect thanks to witness statements. The suspect was located and taken into custody without incident and is being held in the Berrien County Jail on multiple charges.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.

The investigation is still ongoing.
