Revelers warned of bursting crackers in quiet zones

The Tiruvarur district police have warned the ‘Deepavali’ partygoers that strict action will be taken against them if crackers are found bursting at some specific places.

According to an official press release from Tiruvarur District Police, revelers should refrain from bursting crackers near hospitals and places where elderly people and children live in large numbers as bursting of crackers can affect their living environment.

As of November 1, 51 cases – 15 in Mannargudi police sub-division, 12 in Tiruvarur sub-division, 10 in Nannilam and 7 each in Thiruthuraipoondi and Muthupettai sub-division – have been filed against the ‘time table’ violators. announced by the Tamil Nadu government due to bursting of crackers on October 31.

In addition, 166 vehicles across the district were seized by police on October 31 on charges of driving under the influence, the press release said.
