Woman charged with murder after 62-year-old was stabbed

A 55-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of another woman in north London.

An abandoned call was made to the Metropolitan Police from an address in Westerham Avenue, Edmonton, Enfield just after 5pm GMT on Thursday.

Officers arrived at the scene and found Efthyia Constantinou, 62, with stab wounds.

Zaneta Peto – also known as Maria Peto – of Charles Street, Enfield, was arrested on Friday and later charged with murder.

The Met said that despite the best efforts of officers, Ms Constantinou was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ms Peto was known to the victim, police said, adding that no one else was wanted in connection with the incident.

Det Ch Insp Sarah Lee, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “Our sincere condolences are offered to Efthyia’s family, friends and wider community, who are so deeply saddened by her death.”

She said her family continued to be supported by specially trained officers.
