St. Pete pedestrian killed trying to cross highway: FHP

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A St. Petersburg man was killed Friday after he was struck by a vehicle trying to cross a highway in Pinellas County, authorities said.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, a Nissan Versa driven by a 44-year-old man from Indian Harbor Beach was traveling westbound on Ulmerton Road around 10:15 p.m.

At the intersection of County Road 611, the driver got the green light and drove through the intersection, where he struck the 60-year-old pedestrian from St. Petersburg who was crossing the highway at a crosswalk.

The pedestrian was fatally injured at the scene of the accident.
