Bournemouth claim famous victory against Manchester City

Scorers: Semyo 9′. Evanilson 62′; Gvardiol 82′

Bournemouth caused a major upset when they defeated reigning champions Manchester City at the Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries almost took the lead in the first minute when they forced Ederson into an excellent double save from Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo.

However, their bright early start was rewarded after 10 minutes when Semenyo produced a clinical finish to give the home side a shock early lead.

City looked well off the pace and the hosts looked likely to double their lead rather than concede as they headed towards the half-hour mark.

And Pep Guardiola’s side managed to go the entire half without even conceding a shot on target against Iraola’s side, with Bournemouth more than holding their own at the Vitality Stadium.

They almost doubled their lead a minute into the second half but Ederson again came to Man City’s rescue, smothering an effort from record signing Evanilson.

At the other end, Phil Foden pulled a low effort wide, but as City began to threaten they were hit by a clinical counter-attack from the Cherries, with more good work from Semenyo allowing Evanilson to tap in a second goal to leave City in second place . ropes.

It could have been over moments later, only thanks to Marcus Tavernier’s effort to hit the post before Adam Smith smashed over the ball from six yards out.

It wasn’t until the 80th minute that Man City registered their first attempt on goal, when Erling Haaland crossed the ball to Mark Travers. However, two minutes later their second resulted in a goal as Josko Gvardiol rose highest to nod past the Bournemouth goalkeeper for Man City to come to the rescue again.

They could have been level in the 90th minute as a low effort from Doku was well kept out by Travers, and six minutes of stoppage time only increased the tension on the south coast.

Once again City came close, with Erling Haaland producing a couple of astonishing misses from a yard out, while Bournemouth tried their luck in the closing stages to hold on to a huge three points.

Leicester City draws against Ipswich

A late goal from Jordan Ayew earned Leicester City a point against 10-man Ipswich in a battle at the bottom of the Premier League.

Facing an Ipswich side still looking for their first Premier League win of the season, Leicester had the best of what was an end-to-end start to proceedings, with both sides’ chances of taking an early lead rejected.

The home side started to assert themselves in the match as the half progressed, but lacked any quality in the final third heading into the break.

Ten minutes into the second half, the home side took a precious lead when Leif Davis volleyed home after good work from Sam Morsy, putting Kieran McKenna’s side on course for their first Premier League win in more than two decades.

But they had to work for it as they were reduced to ten man-minutes from full time when Kalvin Phillips was shown a second yellow card just after Ipswich felt they should have been awarded a penalty.

And deep into stoppage time, Ipswich suffered a hammer blow when Jordan Ayew made Leicester’s increased pressure pay to salvage a point for the Foxes and leave the East Anglian side waiting for their first win of the season.

Liverpool come back to beat Brighton

Scorers: Kadioglu 15′; Gakpo 69′, Salah 72′ Liverpool came from behind to beat Brighton in a repeat of their midweek clash in the EFL Cup to move top of the Premier League.

The Seagulls took an early lead and capped an impressive start to the match with a deserved goal, with summer signing Ferdi Kadioglu curling home a thunderous effort from the edge of the penalty area.

The Reds grew into the match and got an end-to-end feel, with both Georginio Rutter and Mo Salah creating chances that were kept out by the opposition’s shot-stopper as they went into half-time with just one goal.

The second half was a similarly open affair, but Liverpool finally got the goal their performance deserved when substitute Cody Gakpo’s cross eluded everyone and settled into the far corner.

Minutes later they completed an excellent turnaround when Mo Salah cut in on his left foot before curling a powerful strike into the far corner, putting Slot’s side on course for all three points, while their rivals at the top dropped points.

Nottingham Forest beats West Ham

Scorers: Wood 27′, Hudson Odoi 65′, Aina 74′

Looking to continue their good start to the season against West Ham, Nottingham Forest started the match strongly despite not testing Lukasz Fabianski in the West Ham goal.

However, they continued to apply pressure and were eventually rewarded when the in-form Chris Wood was given the freedom to nod home an Alex Moreno cross to give the home side the lead.

Moments after Lucas Paqueta saw Wood’s effort cleared off the line, West Ham’s first half took another turn for the worse when Edson Alvarez was shown a second yellow card just before the break, leaving the visitors with a mountain to climb.

Despite the man disadvantage, West Ham started the second half much better than the first, trying to hit Forest on the counter-attack as the hosts looked for a second goal.

But the final nail in West Ham’s coffin, and perhaps Lopetegui’s too, came just after the hour mark when Callum Hudson-Odoi connected with Elliot Anderson before curling into the far corner to double Forest’s lead.

From then on it was a walk in the park for the home side as West Ham became increasingly frustrated and Nikola Milenkovic squandered an excellent chance to add a third for Forest.

However, a few minutes later it was indeed 3-0 when Ola Aina fired in a low effort from the edge of the penalty area, adding luster to an impressive performance.

Southampton defeated Everton

Southampton and Everton met in a relegation six-pointer, and in typical fashion it was the Saints who dominated the ball without really creating anything, while Everton tried to take them away on the counter-attack.

As Sean Dyche’s side pushed for an opener, Southampton looked toothless, with Russell Martin’s side failing to get a shot on target for a restless St Mary’s.

The second half continued in similar fashion, with Aaron Ramsdale forced to make a fine save to keep out an Orel Mangala effort and keep the score level.

In a low-quality affair, Southampton thought they had secured victory late on when Adam Armstrong curled in a left-footed effort from twelve yards out.

Minutes later they thought their hopes of a first win of the season had been dashed when Beto once again came to Everton’s rescue to give the Toffees a deserved point, only for VAR to rule it out for offside, giving the Saints a delivered a much-needed first victory. the campaign.

Toothless Arsenal defeated by Newcastle United

Toothless Arsenal suffered a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St James’ Park after an Alexander Isak goal in the opening stages proved the difference.

The Gunners started the match on the front foot, with Leandro Trossard pulling the first effort of the match wide from the edge of the penalty area.

However, the home side began to settle down and took the lead after just twelve minutes with their first try of the match, when Alexander Isak curled in a header from Anthony Gordon’s cross to give his side an early lead.

Although Arsenal continued to dominate the ball, Newcastle remained a threat on the counter-attack as the visitors pushed forward in search of an equalizer.

Chances came at both ends as Bukayo Saka flashed a cross past the six-yard box before Mikel Merino’s effort was blocked on the line by Lewis Hall, while at the other end Anthony Gordon himself delivered a teasing cross that Newcastle were unable to convert.

The game became increasingly divisive as the half progressed, with both sides guilty of a series of small errors that prevented momentum from building. leaving Newcastle narrowly in front at halftime.

The hosts also came out stronger after the break, with Joe Willock seeing his effort saved by David Raya within moments of kick-off. Arsenal continued to see more of the ball but could do nothing with it as Isak poked Raya’s palms at the other end.

Mikel Arteta ushered in the substitutions, while Ethan Nwaneri, Gabriel Jesus and Ben White all came on in an attempt to salvage at least a point from the match.

But they still couldn’t inject momentum into the match, with the Gunners stuck firmly in first gear as Newcastle defended vigorously.

Heading into the final ten minutes, Arsenal finally managed to create some pressure, but they were still unable to test Nick Pope between the posts for the Magpies as they closed in on a famous win.

Deep into injury time, Declan Rice nodded Arsenal’s best chance wide from six yards out, summing up Arsenal’s poor performance and ensuring they left St James’ Park with nothing.
