The Chinese Army Corps had said late on Friday evening that troops had spotted “suspicious movements” in the Panar general area of Bandipora in north Kashmir.

It further added that an operation has been launched against the terrorists in Bandipora forests. “On November 1, 2024, late evening, suspicious movements were spotted in the Panar general area of Bandipora by alert troops. When challenged, terrorists opened fire indiscriminately and fled into the jungle. Search operation underway,” Chinar Corps wrote in a message on ‘X’

Following reports of fresh sightings of terrorists in some parts of North Kashmir, the army is on high alert, especially around the remote camps or in the forests.

The Jammu and Kashmir Army and Police are yet to trace the attackers of Gagangeer Sonmarg and Botapatri, who escaped after the ambush.

Bandipora is mainly used by terrorists as a transit point, especially between the Lolab, Gurez and Ganderbal areas. While all these places have remained peaceful, both the police and military have not ruled out the possibility of terrorists hiding in the forests.
