Goldberg announces 2025 WWE retirement match

Bill Goldberg will wrestle his last match in 2025.

He announced the news today while appearing on ESPN’s SEC Network, saying, “The news of the day, according to three executives, Nick Khan, Chris Lengentil and Paul Levesque, is that Goldberg has his retirement match in 2025!”

Clips were shown from Goldberg’s appearance at WWE Bad Blood in Atlanta last month, when he was involved in an altercation with Gunther. Goldberg thinks it’s likely he’ll face Gunther in his final match.

“I think we know who the subject is, or probably the victim, the frontrunner right now, we know who it is,” Goldberg said. “But in 2025, Goldberg makes his return in a retirement match. I have a few months to prepare. No date, no time.”

Goldberg has not wrestled since losing to Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber 2022 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Shortly after his appearance on Bad Blood, Triple H left the door open on his possible return to the company, saying:

“Atlanta loves Bill Goldberg and that’s why he was here tonight,” said Triple H. “He was with his wife and his son. I always get huge comments here as I enjoy the show. You know, things are said. I can tell you that when Bill came back he wasn’t too happy with Gunther and we’ll see.
