Volunteers get ready to kick off the holiday season with Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Now that Halloween is over, much of the Tri-State is getting into the spirit of the holidays.

Saturday morning began setting up a Tri-State favorite: the Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights.

Around 7 a.m., dozens of volunteers were out bright and early putting together displays for the dazzling light show.

Organizers of Easterseals say this year’s show will feature the largest number of displays in the event’s more than 30-year history.

Saturday’s setup took place about a week after volunteers moved the elaborate displays from storage to their assigned spots in Garvin Park.

“It is a huge team effort that will continue, with smaller and smaller numbers of volunteers returning to Garvin Park,” organizers say. “In fact, workers will connect power to the more than 85 exhibits and fine-tune the details until opening night on Thanksgiving.”

The volunteers are expected to finish their work on Saturday around 12 noon.

Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights runs every evening from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sundays and Thursdays from Thanksgiving through January 1st. and 5-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Officials say admission per vehicle: up to 6 people is $7; 7-14 people $10; 15 or more persons €25.
