Just after midnight, detectives found the woman, 28-year-old Waleska Gomez Barroeta, dead in a parked car outside the Heron apartment complex, located at 815 Water Street.

Officials said the suspect, 31-year-old Franklin Vegas Delgado, called a relative and told them he had killed his wife.

Vegas Delgado reportedly left the parking lot, where his wife was found, and fled on foot. At 1:20 a.m., he was found with self-inflicted wounds at the Marriott Waterside Hotel, located at 505 Water Street. The hotel is about half a mile from where he murdered his wife.
