Early voting ends in Texas, citizens wait in long lines to vote

BEXAR CO. – The polling stations are closed on Friday evening at 8 p.m.

Now Election Day is just four days away.

At last check, nearly 57,000 people cast ballots in Bexar County on Friday.

Many of them waited in line for hours to avoid the Tuesday rush.

Since early voting started just two weeks ago, more than 500,000 people in Bexar County have hit the ballot box to cast their ballots in the upcoming election.

And just like on day one, some voters stood in long lines to get their ballots in the mail.

Some said even if Friday is the last day of early voting, their vote is just as important.

‘My children. It matters,” Tiffany Richards said. Especially for the women.”

“It means a lot,” Rebecca DeLong said. ‘Especially because… you never know what’s going to happen in someone’s life. It gives you the chance to vote. I have to make sure every vote counts.”

Some voters we spoke to along those lines said they waited up to two hours to return their ballots.

Despite this, everyone who was in line before the gates closed at 8 p.m. will have their votes counted.

If you missed early voting, you’ll have to wait until Tuesday’s big day for another chance.
