Suspect arrested for murder after shooting leaves 1 dead and 3 injured at Midtown Reno bar

A suspect has been arrested for murder after a shooting in Midtown Reno left one person dead and three others injured Saturday morning.

Johnpaul Seger, 42, was arrested at a home on the 400 block of Cedar St. in Reno less than 12 hours after he allegedly opened fire at a Midtown bar just after midnight.

Police responded to Shea’s Tavern on Nov. 2 for the report of a shooting and found four adult victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims died at the scene, while the others were taken to a local hospital for treatment. One adult male remains in critical condition, while another man and woman are considered in stable condition.

Seger faces one count of open murder, three counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and prohibited person in possession of a weapon after the shooting.

Although a motive has not yet been determined, police believe the fatal shooting was an isolated incident and that there is no clear threat to the public.

Members of the HAZMAT crew spent most of Saturday outside the bar clearing the scene and clearing biohazard material from the sidewalk.

Investigators still want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting. If you were in the area and witnessed the shooting, you are urged to contact police or Secret Witness immediately.

This is evident from the Nevada Department of Corrections’ search for inmatesPrior to this arrest, Seger spent time in prison for assault with a deadly weapon.
