Kerala: Four railway contract workers killed after an express train hit them in Palakkad – Kerala News

Four contract workers employed by the railways were killed on Saturday after they were hit by an express train near Shornur in Kerala’s Palakkad district.

The incident took place around 3 pm when the Thiruvananthapuram-bound Kerala Express hit the sanitation workers while they were clearing garbage. The victims included two men and two women.

“The workers may not have noticed the oncoming train, which led to the accident, but further investigation is on,” said an officer of Shornur Railway Police.

Three bodies were recovered from the scene and a search operation was launched to locate the fourth, believed to have fallen into the nearby Bharathapuzha river.
